Dark Water

I have a strange fear of dark water already. It’s just the fear of not knowing what is below me while I’m swimming. Having this in mind I figured this would be a really good movie for me, however, I was wrong.

#8 Dark Water

As I said, I have a honest fear of swimming in water that I can’t tell what’s below me. I know… It’s kind of irrational but never the less its there. So when I started watching this movie I expected it to creep me out more given that fact, when I was done watching it, I was more sad than anything. The movie revolves around a woman that is in the midst of a divorce and is currently looking for an apartment for her and her daughter. They move into an apartment complex that just happens to be haunted, go figure. Apparently in the apartment above the one they rent there was a family that moved out during a divorce and each thought that the other had taken the daughter they had. What the didn’t realize is that they just left their daughter there. The daughter then made her way to the roof, fell into a water tower and died. Hence all the water and strange goings on. Well, the real daughter [Cecilia] befriends the dead daughter [Natasha] and things go down hill. Cecilia’s mother starts having nightmares and seeing things… long story short, Natasha ends up trying to kill Cecilia. The only way that she can be stopped is when Cecilia’s mother offers her own life in exchange for her daughters. Natasha wants a mommy “forever” and she takes the offer in order to save her daughter. Cecilia is ok and moves in with her father while her mother becomes a ghost mother of Natasha. The movie ends as we see Cecilia in the elevator talking to her dead mother then walking away saying everything will be ok. It’s a pretty sad ending honestly. I was actually surprised by this movie just because it wasn’t so much a scary story as it was just sad. All in all though it wasn’t that bad of a movie really.
