I don’t normally post info about albums coming out, but then again, it isn’t everyday that one drops that I have waited so long to hear.
First off, if you have no idea who Deltron Zero is, or what Deltron 3030 (the album) is, do yourself a favor and go look it up. It can be found in it’s entirety on Youtube as well as many other hosting sites, I’m sure. It’s a fantastic hip hop album. If you enjoy hip hop, you owe it to your self to hear this album.
Now that you have become, or already are, educated on Deltron 3030, it may be a bit more clear why I am posting this. Deltron 3030 came out in 2000. It the combination of Deltron Zero (alternate personality of Del Tha Funkee Homosapien) Dan “The Automator” and Kid Koala. It was released and pretty well received right off the bat, but gradually grew in popularity over the years. Featuring guest spots by Prince Paul, MC Paul Barman and others, including even Sean Lennon. It’s a mash-up of different styles that all seem to work together perfectly. It’s a weird auditory journey into the future where music is the voice of the people, in a post-apocalyptic, neo-version of the world/universe.
Flash forward four years and people are looking for the new album already. Apparently Del, Kid Koala and Dan the automator started production on Deltron 3030 Event II in 2004. Over the next (almost) ten years the three tell sources that they are working on the album and give various dates for its release. As those dates come and go, fans start to worry that this may never happen.
As of last year Deltron was saying that the album would be out in the fall of 2012. Again this date came and went. Now the release date is once again set for the fall. A single was released in June that got the whole storm stirred up again. As of the time I am writing this, the album is set for release on October 1, 2013. They could have just shown a date and made people happy, but why not have it revealed by … Joseph Gordon-Levitt reading, what could be the albums intro, similar to the originals. I am highly optimistic that it will finally happen, but much like others have said, I’ll believe it when the album is in my hand/iPhone.
Below is the reveal video read by the afore mentioned Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Stardate.
