A recent issue of Famitsu revealed the new Suda51 and Grasshopper game called Lollipop Chainsaw. When I first read the name it made absolutely no sense to me, UNTIL I read that Suda51 was connected to it, then it made perfect sense.
According to the article written up over at 1up.com:
[Lollipop Chainsaw] stars a girl named Juliet Starling who, on the occasion of her 18th birthday, is on her way to San Romero High School to meet up with her boyfriend. Instead, she finds the place infested with zombie-fied versions of her classmates.
It would be easy to think that the game would be full of gore and guts given the protagonists main weapon of choice, however according to Suda51, this will not be the case.
“Instead of sprays of blood, we have the zombies emitting bursts of pink light,” Suda said. “When it comes to gore, we can certainly go that way if we want, but we wanted to give the game more of a ‘pop’ feel.”
Yoshimi Yasuda, president of Lollipop publisher Kadokawa Games, also adds that since Juliet is a cheerleader, the games action will take advantage of her particular set of skills. This all sounds absolutely bat-shit crazy and wonderful. No release date was indicated as of yet. If the recent release of Shadows of the Damned is any indication of what this game could turn out to be, consider me excited. (Not that kind of excited, you pervs.) Killing zombies with a cheerleader wielding a chainsaw, and instead of blood they explode into some sort of colorful rainbows and candy colored hearts… sure, I’m down.
