I’ve already seen a movie about a bed that eats people, might as well watch one about a “sofa” that kills folks.
A man bleeds over a picture of a beautiful woman. He holds a dagger in his hands, mumbling strange words. That same man is tied to a table, arms stretched and tied above his head. Another man approaches with a Sawzall running. He begins to saw through the other man’s legs. Muffled screams escape his body as does a lot of blood. Later, presumably in the same spot a group of people open a storage container and get a “sofa” from inside to be delivered. The person getting the “sofa” is a beautiful dancer named, Francesca. She is confused why she is getting the furniture but takes it in any way. Soon after the delivery, things get even weirder for Francesca. People go missing, she starts hearing voices, and her roommate is attacked.
This is gonna be one of those quick-to-the-point reviews. This isn’t a great movie. Starting with the fact that it is called Killer “Sofa” and it’s just like a lounge chair. Maybe they call it a sofa in New Zealand (where this film was made) but from the jump, this movie was rubbing me the wrong way. There are a lot of plot holes that I just don’t understand and really don’t care to try to figure out. Not the least of which happens five minutes from the end when an unnamed and completely random character (I guess) shows up. Never explained, no idea what is even happening.
Killer Sofa has a lot more production value, better acting, and even better special effects than Death Bed, but that isn’t a high bar to clear. Honestly, even as a bad movie, it isn’t a “so good it’s bad” movie worth recommending. While I would like to say don’t sleep on this film… it’s not worth checking out, even for free.
