Review: “Wrong Turn”

Finally a movie with hot chicks that I actually recognize, well at least one, and that’s all that really matters.

Wrong Turn is really just a story that is summed up in it’s own title; “Wrong Turn”. Yup. That’s pretty much it. A dude on his way to an interview (I guess they never really say specifically) tries to take a short cut. This shortcut unfortunately runs him smack into another car (literally) parked on the side of a dirt road in West Virginia. Everyone sets out to find a phone and help… this doesn’t end well for most. The only other thing that you need to know is that Eliza Dushku and Emmanuelle Chriqui are both in tight tank tops the entire movie.

It’s your basic slasher film. Kids lost in the woods are attacked by a couple of inbreed freaks that want nothing more than to kill and possibly eat them. No real surprises here, but there aren’t really any needed. It really is a story you have seen in some form for years. That doesn’t detract from the movie that much, because half the time you are just waiting for the next death and the other half wondering (hoping in my case) if someones top is going to get ripped off.

Apparently in comparison Wrong Turn 2: Dead End and Wrong Turn 3 make this one look like the Ben Hur of the series. That unfortunately only makes me want to continue the series. Wrong Turn isn’t a bad film in any way. It doesn’t innovate the horror genre, but doesn’t need to. One of those films that makes you root for the bad guy in the beginning and the heroes by the end. And again… Dushku.
